Schuster joins the practice game

The squad focused on ball work during this week's second training session

Bernd Schuster has fewer players each day due to international fixtures -Argentines Heinze, Gago and Saviola weren't at training this morning-. The squad did several ball exercises while Robben continued his recovery work on his own. Schuster participated in the practice game. Tomorrow, neither the Brazilians, Miguel Torres nor Dudek will attend training.

Despite the absence of several men, there was a fun atmosphere during this morning's session, which was the first of three open to the public this week.

Arjen Robben jogged on the pitch for 20 minutes with recovery expert José Luis San Martín prior to returning to the gym to continue with the exercises he is doing to reach the optimum physical form of his teammates.

Raúl, Guti, Salgado, Soldado, Torres, Higuaín, Marcelo, Baptista and Diarra then played piggy-in-the-middle with Bernd Schuster, who joined his men in practically every exercise. During said game, the German proved still to have some of the magic touch and quality that made him a legendary player; he gave some extraordinary passes, eliminating some of his own players with his skill.

The orange team won a very tight match 21-20. Guti showcased his impressive quality both as playmaker and goal-scorer, netting a total of nine strikes -more than any of his teammates-. Schuster scored two of his team's goals.

The players then tackled an obstacle course of cones and poles, which put an end to the session.

The team will train again tomorrow, but without the Brazilians and Miguel Torres -called up by Spain's Under-21 team- and Dudek. Fans will also be able to attend tomorrow's session.

Next training:
Thursday 6 September, 10 am.
